Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast; let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the yeast mixture and salt to the butter mixture, then gradually add flour until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes, then let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle and spread almond paste evenly over the surface.
  6. Fold the dough into thirds, then shape it into a ring on a baking sheet.
  7. Brush the top with beaten egg and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
