Description

Tennessee Onions are a delicious twist on traditional onion rings, offering a unique flavor and crispy texture that makes them a perfect snack or side dish.


Ingredients

  • 2 large onions, sliced into rings
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Soak the onion rings in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix together flour, cornmeal, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Remove the onion rings from the buttermilk and dredge them in the flour mixture until well coated.
  5. Fry the onion rings in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per batch.
  6. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.
