Description

Deliciously fluffy red velvet pancakes topped with a creamy cream cheese glaze, perfect for a special breakfast or brunch.


Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, mix buttermilk, egg, vegetable oil, food coloring, and vanilla extract.
  3. Combine the wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
  4. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and pour 1/4 cup of batter for each pancake.
  5. Cook until bubbles form on the surface, then flip and cook until golden brown.
  6. For the glaze, beat cream cheese until smooth, then mix in powdered sugar and milk until desired consistency is reached.
  7. Serve pancakes warm with cream cheese glaze on top.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use buttermilk instead of regular milk.
  • Adjust the amount of food coloring to achieve your desired shade of red.
  • These pancakes can be made ahead and reheated in the toaster.
