- 1 box red velvet cake mix
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup water
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 cup whipped topping
- 1 cup milk
- 1 package instant vanilla pudding mix
- 1/2 cup crushed peppermint candies (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, mix the red velvet cake mix, vegetable oil, eggs, and water until well combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool completely.
- In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.
- Fold in the whipped topping until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and instant vanilla pudding mix until thickened.
- Layer the cooled red velvet cake with the cream cheese mixture and pudding mixture in a trifle dish or serving dish.
- Top with crushed peppermint candies if desired.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.

- For a richer flavor, consider adding a layer of chocolate ganache.
