Description

A delightful breakfast casserole that combines the flavors of pecan pie and French toast, perfect for a special occasion or holiday brunch.


Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of French bread, cubed
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • Butter for greasing the baking dish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon.
  3. Add the cubed French bread to the egg mixture and gently fold until the bread is well coated.
  4. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and sprinkle the chopped pecans on top.
  5. Drizzle maple syrup over the top of the casserole.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
  7. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use brioche or challah bread instead of French bread.
  • This casserole can be prepared the night before and stored in the refrigerator. Just bake it in the morning.
  • Serve with additional maple syrup or whipped cream if desired.
