- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup warm water (110°F)
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon dried Italian herbs (oregano, basil, thyme)
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- Add olive oil, minced garlic, and salt to the yeast mixture.
- Gradually add flour and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and knead in the parmesan cheese and herbs.
- Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan.
- Cover and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let cool before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For a stronger garlic flavor, increase the amount of minced garlic.
- This bread can be frozen for up to 3 months.
- Serve warm with butter or as a side to pasta dishes.
