Description

Char Siu Chicken is a flavorful and tender dish marinated in a sweet and savory sauce, perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs chicken thighs
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon five-spice powder
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together soy sauce, honey, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, five-spice powder, garlic, ginger, and sesame oil.
  2. Add the chicken thighs to the marinade and coat well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
  3. Preheat the grill or oven to medium-high heat.
  4. Remove the chicken from the marinade and reserve the marinade for basting.
  5. Grill or bake the chicken for about 20-25 minutes, basting with the reserved marinade, until the chicken is cooked through and has a nice glaze.
  6. Let the chicken rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the chicken overnight.
  • Serve with steamed rice and vegetables for a complete meal.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
