Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and powdered sugar until smooth.

- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until combined.
- Divide the dough in half. To one half, add peppermint extract and red food coloring, mixing until the color is evenly distributed.
- Roll out small pieces of each dough into ropes and twist them together to form a candy cane shape.
- Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until lightly golden.
